Designed to give young urban Actors of all ethnicities the opportunity for their creative voices to be heard, The Live Theatre Gang welcomes young writers, directors and performers to develop ideas, giving them the opportunity to design productions that can better relate to their generation. Our goal is to encourage, mentor and teach young men and women an appreciation for the live theatre performance.

By melding forms of art such as Song, Comedy, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Poetry, accentuated by the flavors of Caribbean, Latin and African influences, we will create a fresh and exciting wave of expression in theatre. In this technology-based era (cable television, video games and the Internet), live theatre will be faced with difficulties in attracting audiences. By using innovative techniques such as audience interaction and multimedia performance-art presentations, we will begin to bridge the gap between theatre and urban life.

Beginning 6 years ago and founded by Writer/Director/Actor Reed R. McCants, the Live Theatre Gang produced original hit productions such as "Great Men of Color," "Great Women of Color", "Great Comedians Of Color", “Sista Scrooge“, "The Printz Of Poets", "Café Millennium”, Haters and "ADAM" The Life and Times Of Adam Clayton Powell Jr.  Some of LTG’s alums include: Russell Hornsby (Gideon’s Crossing), Tangi Miller (Felicity), Tangi Ambrose (I Got The Hook Up) and Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show).  The stars of today’s performance will be the stars of tomorrow - Thanks in part to the Live Theatre Gang.
