The story of the "MIZFIT" begins the first time he heard RAKIM ALLAH's "MICROPHONE FIEND" at the age of 5 Growing up as a skinny, sickly little boy in the streets of Bushwick, Brooklyn. AZRAEL had to find a way to fit in and make friends, or just avoid getting picked on by the neighborhood's bullies. Hip-hop gave AZRAEL the means to escape his otherwise harsh reality. He learned to break dance, graffiti and eventually rap watching the older kids of his neighborhood at block parties. Developing his own style of dress and attitude, and performing as a freelance amateur model at several events hosted by "LEVY'S HOUSE OF PERFECTION" AND "URBANROOM.COM the image of AZRAEL was born. Always feeling a need to be different he embraced an array of styles, cultures and music. Rock, Rap, Pop, Funk, Soul even Gospel have helped influence this eclectic artist. SLICK RICK, MARVIN GAYE, AC-DC, AL GREEN, GEORGE CLINTON, MAHALIA JACKSON, PRINCE, MICHAEL JACKSON, PARLIAMENT, SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE, SNOOP DOGG, K.R.S. ONE, N.W.A, to name a few have helped him to filter out and cultivate the styles of composing songs and performing for which he is now so popular. At age 22, AZRAEL's list of accomplishments speak for themselves: a host of his own locally syndicated music video show numerous guest appearances on HUNTER college radio a special guest appearance on 98.7 KISS FM a starring role in 4 off Broadway productions with three different theatre companies the most recent 2 being "THE SOUNDS OF THE CITY" with the TOY-BOX THEATRE company, and "DA PRINTZ OF POETZ pt.2" produced by THE LIVE THEATRE GANG where AZAREL played the lead character "LAMAR" AZRAEL has kept busy this year, temporarily reinstating the "MIZFITZ VIDEOZ" TV. show on the METRO ACCESS NETWORK CH.26/35/39 as well as creating the new but also temporary!) radio show "MIZFITZ RADIO" on 99.5 WBAI. AZRAEL also hosted his own OPEN MIC event on Sundays for 2 months at the BOUDOIR BAR called "DA MIZFITZ LOUNGE". AZRAEL has also written for and was the CONCEPTS EDITOR for a community based newspaper: WORD ON THE STREET AZRAEL is now currently signed to LOOPHOLE RECORDS and is working on his solo debut album "...MIZFIT..." slated to drop early next year featuring his group "MIZFITZ INK." So as you can see, AZRAEL the former nerd is now a self-made modern day pioneer of the Hip-hop culture. with his fresh, innovative ideas and attitude ,he has single handedly taken on the underground Hip-hop scene by storm,whether it be competing in the NUYORICAN POETS CAFE POETRY SLAM every Wednesday or "SPITFIREent" at PO'KNOCKERS every first Monday, guest-appearing on the BOBBY SIMMONS TV show "FLAVA VIDEOS" or performing original spoken word poetry for "VIDEO MUSIC BOX", AZRAEL has proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that being different can be a good thing.
