It's A Rap For Artistic Director In LA.

LTG's Artistic Director Reed McCants flew to Los Angeles last week to complete the filming of "Civil Brand" a motion picture featuring an all-star cast and directed by one of LTG’s Executive Producers, Neema Barnette.  This action drama focuses on the abuse and exploitation of women inside a prison that is headed by a slick warden, played by McCants.

They play inmates caught in a web of intrigue. “ It was a special treat to work with so many beautiful African American female Stars and all at one time, said Reed. "I’m sure I’m gonna be the envy of every man on this planet."  But wait, this impressive cast is joined by some of Hip-Hop’s Royalty as well.  You can expect to see Mos Def, MC Light and Da Brat give stellar performances in this unique feature film.  Originally shot in Nashville at the same prison location where "The Green Mile" was filmed, Civil Brand’s final scenes had to be shot in Los Angeles, due to scheduling conflicts.

The cast assembled for a 6:00 AM call at the Lacy Studios, where shows like "Cagney & Lacey" were filmed.  The set was transformed into a prison infirmary, a Wardens Office and the exterior prison walls as the actors went to work on their final intense scenes.

Barnette who has directed sixty hours of prime-time television and made over ten features including, "The Gail Devers Story" for Showtime and the horror film  “Spirit Lost”, said “The day went smoothly.  "We’re more like a family. The film was a labor of love and it’s a message to the urban youth about prison.  We want to let them know that as it’s stated in our film,  "Ain’t nuthin’ good happenin’ up in there!"    Look for "Civil Brand" at a theatre near you.
