“Let
da’ Battles Begin”
If you were not at ‘The Rotunda’ in
Philadelphia PA, Saturday, August 14th, you truly cheated
yourself out of the most electrifying show ever to be put on by
grass-roots artist. "City Battles" Round 1 went down in history.
Yours truly, Lady Adeena
produced and was the Host of the evening. Not only did NY man-up to
Philly’s challenge, but they sent in
Brooklyn’s hot R&B singing
group, “DEEP”
to intimidate Philly performers. The boy’s were sensational! By the end of
their performance, the Philly audience was standing and applauding them;
however Philly didn’t retreat, they sent in R&B’s soul-songstress
Tera-girl. She
proved that it doesn’t matter if your Black or White, If you can “sang”;
you can “sang”. Poetry took the folks for a rhythm ride, when
Philly-Osa-pher
blazed the mic. Next to take over the stage was Hip-hop; stepping to
center stage was Charlie Hustle
a protégé of Camden, NJ. Not only did he ‘rock the mic’, but he
racked-in the votes as well. He was the #1 VOTED out of 100 performers.
Did somebody say ‘Comedy’! Well comedy it was indeed when comedian
Diante striped
down to his Speedo’s and did the percolator. Intermission was filled with
networking chatter. Will Smith’s father was in the house representing
Philly strong. Bernard Collins
came, performed and scored big votes.
Misty-sol and baby were in the
house. When the show was said and done 300 audience members voted for the
following performers to represent Philly, in the Philly vs. NY challenge:
Tara-Girl, Ditto,
Charlie Hustler, Misty-sol, Rhapsody,
Charles Banks,
Vision,
Angel,
Bernard Collins, Brother Ray,
Cazze
and Philly-Osa-pher. New York get ready because Philly has collected an
all-star team and they have chosen a few representatives to send to
pre-warn NY as to what they are getting into! NY’s “City Battle will
take place tomorrow, Tuesday, August 31st,
10pm @ the NY IMPROV; 318 West 53rd, between 8th and
9th Avenue. If you
are a performer who lives in the north New Jersey/New York area and would like to have the
chance to represent your city; register on August 31st 9pm at
the Improv and be prepared to perform. For more information call
267-972-8953 after 7pm.

Another fantastic Live Spot Tuesdays at the New York Improv, hosted by
Eric Thomas, brought to you by the Live
Theatre Gang. It was my first time watching Eric host a show and he did a
great job keeping the audience immersed in between comics. First in line
was side-splitting Angry Bob (Left),
who was “dressed for giving up.” He’s miserable to make our days brighter.
Next we had Shawn McLean, who made me
remember about my debt, with his jokes about how people like me use their
cards at the check-out line praying that there’s $2 left. Ahhh…..bad
credit. Kevin-kevin had the crowd
absorbed with his tales of relationships now-a-days, and
Paul Virzi is a hysterical Italian. I
loved his idea about mobsters being the security for the city. I can
definitely see Tony Soprano taking
care of terrorists. Romey Rome’s jokes
on how life is really like being a black man in New York City pleased the
crowd. I treasure his sarcastic wit. Finally
Victor Cruz finished the show out with his Bronx tales of
Puerto Rican couples, relationships and my favorite subject and yours,
sex. The Live Spot at the Improv never lets NY down and if you have yet to
check out their shows, WAKE THE HELL UP and make your reservations right
now. Adieu!

Opening
Night of Live Spot Tuesdays
Opening night of The LIVE Spot's variety showcase was off the chain Tuesday
night! The show took place at the spank'en brand new Improv on 53rd str. between
8th & 9th ave.The show's host Bob Slade of kiss FM brought the crowd out and
kept the performers on point! Subway/street artist Nucomme opened the show and
blazed the mic with a fusion groove performance preparing the audience for the
talent to follow her. Zack Glass amazed the audience with sounds coming from his
acoustic guitar that Bob Slade compared to as a cross between Springsteen and
Tom Waits. Oh and if your wondering why your friends jaws a
re
hanging low these days, it's because the comedy of Howard Feller was no-less
than jaw-dropping hilarious and the show kept changing it's flavor keeping the
audience on the edges of their seats not knowing what to expect. R&B songstress
Shy Hopkins debut singing acapella melodies that proved that she didn't need
music to help her carry a note. She sent the crowd rushing vibes as she blew
them away with her rich-clear vocals!! Equinox pumped the energy level up even
higher with their alternative rap. The duo proved that rap is definitely not one
dimensional. Politically speaking comedian Eric Thomas brought to the
stage commonsense laughter and the R&B group Deep wowed the ladies when
they
performed their latest hits.. THIS IS MY LIFE, ONE HAND IN THE SKY and SO MANY SONGS TO SING from their exclusive
mix tape! What can be said about the neo-jazz/hip-hop/poet Lady Adeena
besides...SEDUCTIVE, SEDUCTIVE, SEDUCTIVE...,she sent the couples home lip-locken after
her erotic poetry and just when the audience thought that she was going to leave
them with only one side of her, she opened up her soul and her vocal cords to
surprise them with her multi-ranged majestic voice! Saving the best for last,
comedian Gil T. lit the roof on fire with laughs when he told everyone in the house just how The Wonder Bra
obtained it's name. It must be said that once again LTG showed and proved that
they are indeed the future of Entertainment and Performing Arts!!!! If you
missed the show you truly cheated yourself, because stars were surely born at
the THE LIVE SPOT Tuesday night. Luckily for you THE LIVE SPOT will be back this
Tuesday and every Tuesday here after!! Make your registration for the next show
on line today!!!!
