Color A Historical ExtravaganzaOn August 12, 2001 The Live Theatre Gang, presented the New York premiere of both Great Man and Great Women of Color. An Afternoon of historical entertainment featuring two Shows together both shows boast an impressive 30 impersonations of some of Harlem’s most fascinating heroes.
First up is "Great Women of Color” an amazing tribute to Zora Neal Hurston, Queen Mother Moore, Sarah Vaughan, Celia Cruz, Madame C.J. Walker, Katherine Dunham and many other legends that have graced Harlem with their presence. ”Great Women” includes over 16 legendary impersonations with stories of their individual struggles and triumphs. Following “Great Women” is “Great Men of Color”. Witness the likes of James Baldwin, Don Pedro Albizu Campos, Countee Cullen, Sammy Davis Jr, Duke Ellington, Marcus Garvey, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., Malcolm X, and more.
