Jomo Kellman

Jomo Kellman, recently named Co-Artistic Director of the Live Theatre Gang. Jomo has put a whole new twist on the art of directing by exploring the talents of the Performance artist and combining it with the ideologies of the actual script.

Jomo's reign began as a stage poet in the early nineties and soon thereafter decided to take up stage theatre under the direction of Jaye Austin Williams, ("For Colored Women Only", "A Not So Quiet Nocturne", and Pickling") who in turn nurtured Jomo's enthusiasm to pursue stage theatre as well as his passion for writing poetry. While watching a performance of the interactive poetic play Cafe Millennium (Directed by Reed McCants/Ah- Keisha McCants), Jomo was asked to perform a poem, not knowing that his piece would attract the attention of Reed McCants ("Adam", Malcolm X., Civil Brand") who in turn offered Jomo the opportunity to perform in other productions. Since then Jomo has been opening acts for  comedians such as Talent (Host of Kiss FM, NY Kings Of Comedy, and HBO's  DEF Comedy Jam)., Will (NY Kings Of Comedy, BET's Comic View,) Jomo has also starred as lead character in two independent  Feature Films, Pressure and Snitch In New York, directed by Juney Smith.

One of Jomo's biggest accomplishments was when he was asked to co-write a comedy stage play called the Prinze Of Poets which had steady run throughout the season as well as a wonderful review from the Village Voice Newspaper, from there his passion for stage, poetry and theatre has gained him a spot on Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam, VH1 Poetry Showcase, and various other venues throughout the tri-state area. Jomo's current accomplishments is a continuation of the stage play Prinze of Poets II (Battle Of Da Slam) which was featured as a radio advertisement on 98.7 Kiss F.M. Jomo wrote and directed this comedy stage play to be featured  at the New York Comedy Club. His most upcoming comedy stage play called "The Grunch That Ripped off Kwanza" which will debut for the holiday season. Jomo's latest work includes an original three man international rap group comedy skit which will debut at the world famous supper club sponsored by Z100.

In addition Jomo has written and co-directed Ah-Keisha McCants’, "Haters" which enjoyed a successful run at the New York Comedy Club.
