Shaunta Macklin
Shaunta Macklin was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She has wonderful parents Joseph and Shirley Macklin and two loving sisters Melissa and Jonelle. Shaunta inherited her mother’s humbleness. When she attended Canarsie High School, the school’s programming department decided to place her in the performing arts program. At first, Shaunta did not like the program but after awhile fell in love with it. She caught the “acting bug.” After high school, Shaunta attended Katharine Gibbs School, where she received an Associate Degree in Business Administration. Afterwards, she received a scholarship to the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, where she studied method acting and dance.
Shaunta made her debut at Lee Strasberg in the production of Peregrine People. From there, she gained experience from working with the Afrikan Women’s Repertory, Gallery Players, ARTGroup & The Crossover Company, and now Live Theatre Gang. In 2000, Shaunta was fortunate to be cast in True Life’s Production of Amour Infinity, which premiered at Urban World Film Festival that same year.
Shaunta is delighted to be working with Live Theatre Gang. She hopes to work on more productions with them in the future. There are many people in Shaunta’s life who have been very supportive of her career that includes her family, friends, co-workers, and boyfriend, Jario.
