Women in Film Honors LTG’s Executive Director.
In honor of Black History Month Women in Film presented its Power Breakfast ceremonies at The Four Seasons Hotel, on Friday, February 28th.  The event was designed to pay tribute to African-American female trailblazers in the Motion Picture and Television Industry.  The honorees were Diahann Carroll, Delores Robinson and Live Theatre Gangs very own Neema Barnette who each received a thunderous ovation when introduced. The room was jammed packed and filled with emotion as the three honorees spoke on their lives, struggles and triumphs in the film and television business.  The event was co-sponsored by Women in Film and the Hollywood Sisters Organizations.  Planning the event were WIF board members and independent producers Deidre Dix and Candace Bowen.  At the start of the tribute, Dix conveyed her personal commitment towards recognizing, “These Women of Color who continue to rise through the ranks and are consistently inspiring all of us with their commitment.  We are proud to recognize these phenomenal African-American women who walked the path first, broke down barriers and made history in the process”.

Hosting the honors with style and grace were veteran actress Vanessa Bell Calloway.   Hattie Winston, star of Televisions Becker, recited a heartfelt poem describing the essence of a Black Woman which brought the house down.  Some of the Celebrities in attendance were Marla Gibbs and Jackee from TV’s 227, R&B singer Freda Payne, actress Lorraine Toussaint, Director/Writer Diane Houston, veteran actresses Sheila Frazier and Judy Pace, Showtime at the Apollo’s Kikki Shepard, and DGA Executive VP Warren Adler.  Also on hand to show support for the honorees were our Artistic Director Reed R.
